Kim: Football season is the best time for beer, chicken wings
With the summer humidity finally letting up and temperatures slowly but surely starting to cool, Bulldogs fans everywhere now are entering their favorite season - football season. Go Dawgs! Sic 'em!
Officially marked by our first game last weekend, the new season is in full swing, and fans will spend virtually every weekend for the next few months basking in football culture. Not surprisingly for foodies like me, it's the football grub that captures my attention more than the games themselves.
But I'm just going to put it out there: Football grub generally hasn't been famous for its sophistication. But that's not to take away from the deliciousness of some of its staples.
A cold, crisp beer can hit the spot like no other, but pair that with a basket (or two) of perfectly seasoned and marinated chicken wings, and not only will this football-clueless foodie accompany you to the establishment serving this mouthwatering combo in order to watch your beloved games, I'll outright lead you there.
In honor of football season, I've searched for the best basket of wings in Athens and have found one place in particular that's above the rest.
Amici's Italian Café on East Clayton Street, a small chain started in nearby Madison, is widely known for its pizza, pasta and sandwiches.
